The Poor People’s Campaign is a national effort to unite tens of thousands of people across the country to challenge the evils of systemic racism, poverty, the war economy, ecological devastation and our nation’s distorted morality. It seeks to build a broad and deep social movement to push forward what Dr. King called, a ‘revolution of values’ in this county. Campaign activities include education, organizing, religious, arts & cultural events, nonviolent moral direct action, and relationship building across issues and geography. Co-chaired by Rev. Dr. Lis Theoharis and Rev. Dr. William Barber II, Campaign governance includes a national steering committee that sets overall direction and strategy, as well as state-based coordinating committees of the Campaign. Urbandale United Church of Christ is pleased to be the Fiscal Sponsor of the Iowa Coordinating Committee. You can learn more and connect with the Iowa campaign on Facebook.
